Overview

ATPase H+ transporting V0 subunit c pseudogene 2 is a human pseudogene and does not encode a functional protein. Pseudogenes, such as ATP6V0CP2, originate from protein-coding genes but acquire mutations that disable protein production. While many pseudogenes are considered genomic “fossils,” some can exhibit regulatory activity at the RNA level, such as generating non-coding RNAs or acting as decoys for microRNAs. However, there is currently no direct evidence that ATP6V0CP2 functions as a protein-coding or regulatory gene, nor does it serve as a direct therapeutic target or receptor. Unlike closely named family members (such as ATP6V1C2), for which disease roles and some targeting potential have been explored, ATP6V0CP2 has no known associated pharmacology or role as a molecular target in therapeutic contexts[1][3][5].
