ATPase phospholipid transporting 8B5, pseudogene (ATP8B5P) is a unitary pseudogene located on human chromosome 9, annotated as encoding a predicted phospholipid flippase active for phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine. It is predicted but not experimentally validated to be involved in membrane lipid transport and Golgi organization. Despite its pseudogene annotation and predicted functions, ATP8B5P does not produce a functional protein; it is sometimes referred to as FetA or "flippase expressed in testis splicing form A pseudogene." No known drugs target this gene, and it currently has no clinical utility as a therapeutic target or biomarker. Its pseudogene status means it is not a receptor, enzyme, or functional transporter, and its role in disease, drug interaction, and safety profile has not been established[1][2][8].
