Molecular Classification
Enzyme, Serine/threonine protein kinase
Other Names
Aurora-related kinase 2, ARK2, STK12, serine/threonine kinase 12, Aurora/IPL1-related kinase 2
Disease Roles
Aurora kinase B Overview
Aurora B kinase is a serine/threonine protein kinase and a core component of the chromosomal passenger complex (CPC). It plays an essential role in chromosome segregation, spindle assembly, and cytokinesis during mitosis and meiosis. Overexpression or hyperactivation leads to chromosomal instability and is linked to cancer.
Mechanism of Action
Aurora B kinase inhibitor
Biological Functions
Chromosome segregation
Kinetochore-microtubule attachment
Cytokinesis
Cell cycle
Regulation of kinetochore function
Regulation of microtubule dynamics
Disease Associations
Cancer
Aneuploidy
Chromosomal instability
Safety Considerations
- Potential for chromosomal instability if not targeted precisely.
- Side effects from broad kinase inhibition.

Barasertib
Gosset
