Auxin Receptor (Plant) (TIR1/AFB)

Target
TIR1/AFB
Molecular classification
Receptor, F-box protein, E3 ubiquitin ligase component
01

Overview

The auxin receptor in plants, primarily the TIR1/AFB family of F-box proteins, is a key component of the SCF^TIR1/AFB E3 ubiquitin ligase complex. It perceives the plant hormone auxin (IAA), leading to the ubiquitination and degradation of Aux/IAA transcriptional repressors. This releases ARF transcription factors to regulate gene expression and control diverse aspects of plant growth and development.

02

Mechanism of action

Auxin binding promotes degradation of Aux/IAA transcriptional repressors via SCF^TIR1/AFB E3 ubiquitin ligase complex-mediated ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation, leading to ARF transcription factor activation or repression of target gene expression.
