The bacterial cell wall of *Propionibacterium acnes* (*Cutibacterium acnes*) is a Gram-positive structure primarily composed of a thick peptidoglycan layer and teichoic acids. It provides essential functions including maintaining cellular shape, protecting against osmotic stress, filtering large molecules, contributing to biofilm formation, and playing roles in host-pathogen interactions. Due to its essential role in bacterial survival and its absence in eukaryotes, enzymes involved in peptidoglycan synthesis are important antibiotic targets.
