Bis(5'-nucleosyl)-tetraphosphatase (asymmetrical), commonly referred to as **NUDT2**, is an enzyme and member of the NUDIX hydrolase family. It asymmetrically hydrolyzes diadenosine 5',5'''-tetraphosphate (Ap4A) to produce AMP and ATP, helping to maintain intracellular Ap4A concentrations, which are implicated in cellular stress signaling and cell cycle regulation[3][4]. NUDT2 also removes 5'-phosphates from viral PPP-RNA, initiating its degradation and thus serving a role in antiviral immunity[1]. In cancer, notably triple negative breast cancer, NUDT2 is upregulated and associated with increased proliferation, migration, invasion, and anchorage-independent growth, positioning it as a potential therapeutic target as well as a prognostic biomarker for certain malignancies[2].
