Overview

"Blood stasis" is a **pathological syndrome in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)** referring to impaired blood flow, pooling, or stagnation in tissue or vessels. It is used to explain many chronic diseases, pain, and circulatory disturbances. The concept is not directly translatable to a molecular target or pathway in modern biomedical terms, and cannot be assigned to a specific protein, receptor, or gene. In TCM, blood stasis is associated with physical signs (e.g., purplish skin, varicose veins), and syndromic diagnoses (e.g., stasis-heat syndrome). Treatments aim to restore microcirculation and alleviate stagnation through herbal remedies, acupuncture, and other modalities. Research in modern contexts attempts to correlate the concept with biomarkers of coagulation, fibrinolysis, and inflammation, but "blood stasis pathway" itself is not an established or recognized signaling or metabolic pathway in molecular biology or pharmacology
