Bone Matrix (areas of altered osteogenesis)

Molecular classification
Extracellular Matrix, Structural Protein, Mineralized Tissue
01

Overview

The bone matrix is the non-cellular component of bone tissue, providing structural support and serving as a reservoir for minerals. It is primarily composed of collagen fibers (mainly type I collagen), non-collagenous proteins, and mineral deposits such as hydroxyapatite. Areas of altered osteogenesis refer to regions within the bone matrix where normal bone formation or remodeling processes are disrupted or modified, often due to disease, injury, or genetic conditions.

02

Mechanism of action

Various mechanisms depending on the drug; PTH analogs stimulate bone formation and resorption; Bisphosphonates inhibit osteoclast activity; Denosumab inhibits RANKL
