Bordetella pertussis Antigens (Pertussis Toxin & Other Components) (N/A)

Target
N/A
Molecular classification
Exotoxin, Surface protein antigens, Protein
01

Overview

Bordetella pertussis antigens, primarily pertussis toxin (PT) and agglutinogens, are key virulence factors in whooping cough. PT is an AB5 exotoxin that disrupts immune cell function by ADP-ribosylating Gi proteins, leading to increased cAMP. Agglutinogens are surface proteins that induce antibody production and bacterial agglutination. These antigens are important vaccine components.
