Overview

The Ca(V)3.2 T-type calcium channel is a voltage-gated calcium channel that plays a critical role in neuronal excitability, pain signaling, cardiac pacemaking, and other physiological processes. It is primarily expressed in small-to-medium diameter DRG neurons, thalamic relay neurons, and heart sinoatrial node cells. Ca(V)3.2 mediates calcium influx upon membrane depolarization at relatively negative potentials, contributing to repetitive firing and rhythmic activity. It is implicated in chronic pain conditions and bladder pain syndrome, making it a therapeutic target for these disorders.
