The cancer cell membrane, when used as a target for fluorescence labeling, refers to the outer lipid bilayer of malignant cells that can be selectively stained or tagged with fluorescent probes. This enables visualization and tracking of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo for research, diagnostic, and therapeutic purposes. It allows detection at single-cell resolution and enables real-time imaging of tumor localization and assessment of treatment efficacy. Selectivity is enhanced by targeting unique/overexpressed surface markers.
