Overview

Cap-specific mRNA (nucleoside‑₂′‑O-) methyltransferase II (CMTR₂) is an essential mammalian enzyme responsible for adding a key chemical mark (“cap ₂” structure) onto messenger RNAs after transcription. This mark helps protect transcripts from degradation and modulates their recognition by cellular machinery involved in translation initiation and immune surveillance.
