CAPZA1P5 (“CAPZA1 pseudogene 5”) is a human genomic locus classified as a pseudogene related to the protein-coding gene CAPZA1, which encodes the alpha subunit of the barbed-end actin capping protein. Pseudogenes such as CAPZA1P5 are non-functional DNA sequences that resemble known genes but typically do not encode proteins and do not participate in recognized molecular or therapeutic pathways. In contrast, CAPZA1 is a well-characterized cytoskeletal protein involved in stabilizing actin filaments and regulating their growth by capping the barbed end. CAPZA1 has established roles in cellular architecture, actin filament dynamics, and disease progression, including certain cancers and muscular disorders. CAPZA1P5 itself has no described biological function, disease relevance, drug interaction profile, or safety concerns, and is not considered a therapeutic target.
