Caspase-7 mRNA is the ribonucleic acid transcript of the CASP7 gene, which encodes the executioner Caspase-7 protein (UniProt P55210). This mRNA is a critical component of the apoptotic machinery, as its translation provides the pro-enzyme that, once activated, orchestrates the systematic dismantling of the cell (PubMed: 22343026). In various cancers, the expression of CASP7 mRNA is often altered, contributing to tumor progression or resistance to therapy (PubMed: 30206154). As a therapeutic target, CASP7 mRNA is primarily addressed through RNA interference (RNAi) or antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) in experimental settings to modulate the apoptotic threshold of cells (PubMed: 15607726). These approaches aim to either silence the gene to prevent unwanted cell death in degenerative conditions or to study the impact of Caspase-7 deficiency on cellular pathways.
