Overview

Cat eye syndrome chromosome region, candidate 3 (CECR3) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene located on human chromosome 22q11.1, identified as part of the critical region duplicated or triplicated in Cat eye syndrome (CES)[3][5]. Although CECR3 is robustly expressed in certain tissues, its direct function and specific involvement in human disease have not been defined beyond its association with Cat eye syndrome due to chromosomal abnormality[1][3]. There is no evidence that CECR3 acts as a protein, receptor, drug target, or has a direct therapeutic role. CECR3 is one of several candidate loci mapped to the Cat eye syndrome critical region, identified largely through comparative sequence analysis with mouse DNA, but currently has no established biological function, molecular interactions, or use as a biomarker[1][5].
