CCL15-CCL14 readthrough is a naturally occurring non-coding RNA transcript formed by transcription read-through between the adjacent CCL15 and CCL14 genes located on human chromosome 17q11.2. Although the individual genes [CCL15 and CCL14] code for secreted chemokine proteins involved in immune cell recruitment, the readthrough transcript itself does not encode a protein and is thought to undergo nonsense-mediated decay. It is not known to function as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or any other common drug target, nor is it relevant for chemokine signaling or pharmacology.[3] Important clarification: If your intention was to refer to either CCL15 or CCL14 protein, these are bona fide chemokine proteins; CCL15 is also called leukotactin-1 and CCL14 is a related CC chemokine. However, "CCL15-CCL14 readthrough" specifically refers to the bicistronic RNA species and not a functional protein or drug target[3][4][5].
