CD13 Antigen, also known as Aminopeptidase N (APN), is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein and zinc-dependent ectopeptidase expressed on myeloid lineage hematopoietic cells and various nonhematopoietic tissues. It plays a role in peptide metabolism, antigen processing, cell adhesion, and angiogenesis. It is involved in infection by human coronavirus HCoV-229E and cytomegalovirus. CD13 is a marker for certain leukemias and is associated with poor prognosis in carcinomas. Its soluble form is implicated in angiogenesis and inflammation, making it a potential therapeutic target.
