Target intelligence / Profile preview
CD150 (SLAMF1) is a cell surface receptor predominantly expressed on activated B and T lymphocytes and other immune cells. It serves as the principal entry receptor for the measles virus, facilitating infection and immune modulation[1][9]. Upon binding by measles virus—either wild-type or live attenuated vaccine strain—the immune system undergoes substantial changes: activation of specific adaptive responses yielding life-long measles immunity, but also depletion of pre-existing immune memory (immune amnesia) leading to increased susceptibility to other infections[4][5][6][9]. The live attenuated virus used in vaccines achieves robust immune stimulation without causing significant immune suppression or amnesia, making vaccination the preferred strategy for lifelong protection[8][10].
- Live attenuated measles virus binds to SLAMF1/CD150 on immune cells, initiating transient infection. - Induces activation, proliferation, and differentiation of B and T lymphocytes[1][3]. - Triggers innate immunity via interactions with monocyte TLR2 and other pattern recognition receptors[2]. - Results in depletion of pre-existing memory lymphocytes (immune amnesia), followed by production of measles-specific immune memory[1][4][5][9].
