CD28 is a 44 kDa glycoprotein receptor constitutively expressed on most T cells, acting as a key co-stimulatory receptor necessary for full T-cell activation during antigen presentation. It binds B7-1 (CD80) and B7-2 (CD86) ligands on antigen-presenting cells and is critical for positive regulation of immune responses, working alongside the T-cell receptor[2][1][5].
