Target intelligence / Profile preview
Helper T cells, also known as CD4+ T cells, are a crucial subtype of lymphocytes that play a central role in coordinating adaptive immune responses. They express the CD4 surface protein and recognize antigens presented by antigen-presenting cells via MHC class II molecules. Upon activation, they release cytokines to stimulate B cells, cytotoxic T cells, and other immune cells, tailoring the immune response to specific pathogens. Deficiencies in helper T cell function can lead to severe immunodeficiency syndromes.
