Overview
CD8+ T cell-mediated cytotoxicity describes how specialized lymphocytes identify abnormal self-cells via MHC-I–peptide complexes using their unique receptors plus co-receptor engagement—and then induce programmed death through tightly controlled molecular mechanisms involving perforin/granzyme release or death ligand signaling while also orchestrating broader immune responses through cytokine secretion.
