Disease Roles
CDC-like kinase 4 Overview
CLK4 is a member of the CDC2-like protein kinase (CLK) family, which are dual specificity kinases capable of phosphorylating both serine/threonine and tyrosine residues. This protein plays a role in the regulation of RNA splicing by phosphorylating serine- and arginine-rich (SR) proteins. Recent studies have linked CLK4 to the regulation of cardiac hypertrophy through phosphorylation of nexilin (NEXN), suggesting it as a potential therapeutic target for heart failure.
Mechanism of Action
Inhibition of CLK4 kinase activity to modulate SR protein phosphorylation and RNA splicing; modulation of NEXN phosphorylation.
