Cementoblast Overview

Cementoblasts are specialized cells responsible for the formation and mineralization of cementum, a tissue that covers the root of teeth and provides attachment for the periodontal ligament. They are crucial for tooth stability and periodontal health. Cementoblasts secrete cementoid, an unmineralized matrix that later mineralizes, and some become embedded within this matrix as cementocytes. Cementogenesis continues throughout life, allowing for repair and adaptation to injury or disease.
