Centriole, cilia and spindle-associated protein (CCSAP), also known as CSAP or C1orf96, is a microtubule-binding protein that is essential for microtubule stabilization and regulation of mitotic spindle assembly. CCSAP localizes to centrosomes, the spindle, ciliary transition zones, and the cytoskeleton. It binds to polyglutamylated tubulin, promoting the stability and organization of microtubules during mitosis, thus ensuring proper bipolar spindle formation and maintenance. CCSAP is vital for normal cell division and embryonic development, and is required for proper cilia beating. Its aberrant regulation has been associated with developmental brain defects and with altered drug responses in certain cancers[1][2][3]. No approved drugs target CCSAP, and it is not currently considered a direct therapeutic target or established biomarker.
