cGMP-inhibited 3',5'-cyclic phosphodiesterase 3A (PDE3A) is an enzyme that hydrolyzes cAMP and cGMP, regulating their intracellular concentrations. It plays critical roles in cardiovascular function, platelet aggregation, smooth muscle contraction/relaxation, oocyte maturation, and lipid metabolism. PDE3A activity is regulated by phosphorylation and cGMP binding. Dysregulation or mutation is linked to hypertension, heart failure, diabetes, pulmonary hypertension, and cancer, making it a potential therapeutic target.
Inhibition of PDE3A increases intracellular cAMP and/or cGMP levels.
