Target intelligence / Profile preview
Chemokine (C-C motif) ligand 19 is a small, secreted cytokine (chemokine) primarily involved in the regulation and trafficking of immune cells, especially T cells, B cells, and dendritic cells, to and within secondary lymphoid organs via its interaction with the CCR7 receptor. It acts as a critical modulator of adaptive immunity by guiding cell migration, promoting immune surveillance, and facilitating the activation, maturation, and survival of immune cells. CCL19 plays a key role in lymphocyte homeostasis, thymic T cell development, and immune response targeting. Aberrant regulation of the CCL19/CCR7 axis has been implicated in cancer progression, immune disorders, inflammatory diseases, and response to infections. Its unique and potent biological effects, including β-arrestin signaling and receptor desensitization, make it both an important physiological molecule and a potential therapeutic target or biomarker in immune modulation
Agonist/antagonist drugs or biologics would bind CCR7, modulating immune cell chemotaxis, lymphoid tissue organization, and T- and B-cell activation. In therapeutic settings, CCL19 can be used to recruit and activate immune cells (dendritic cells, T cells) in anti-tumor or vaccine responses
