Chemokine (C-C motif) receptor 8 (CCR8)

Target
CCR8
Molecular classification
G protein-coupled receptor, Chemokine receptor, Class A GPCR
01

Overview

Chemokine (C-C motif) receptor 8 (CCR8) is a member of the beta chemokine receptor family and a class A G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR). It is preferentially expressed in thymus tissue, regulatory T cells (Tregs), and type 2 helper T cells (Th2). It plays a role in immune cell migration, monocyte chemotaxis, and thymic cell apoptosis. Its primary endogenous ligand is CCL1. In cancer contexts, it is upregulated on tumor-infiltrating Tregs, making it a target for cancer immunotherapy. Monoclonal antibodies targeting CCR8 are being developed to deplete intratumoral Tregs selectively.
