Chemokine (C-X-C motif) ligand 12 (CXCL12)

Target
CXCL12
Molecular classification
Chemokine, CXC chemokine family ligand
01

Overview

Chemokine CXCL12, also known as Stromal Cell-Derived Factor 1 (SDF-1), is a multifunctional chemokine with critical roles in development, immune regulation, and disease. It primarily signals through CXCR4 and CXCR7 receptors. The CXCL12/CXCR4 axis plays key roles in normal physiology such as maintenance of tissue stem cells, tissue repair/regeneration and cardio-protection. It is also implicated in disease associations such as cancer progression/metastasis/angiogenesis/survival, HIV infection, inflammatory diseases and coronary artery disease risk.
