Coiled-coil domain-containing protein 90B, mitochondrial (CCDC90B) is a membrane-anchored coiled-coil protein localized to the mitochondrion and characterized by a head–neck–stalk–anchor architecture with a conserved N-terminal head domain, alpha-helical coiled-coil region, and a mitochondrial targeting sequence[1][3][5]. The protein directly interacts with the mitochondrial calcium uniporter (MCU) complex, implicating it in regulation of mitochondrial calcium uptake and bioenergetics, potentially serving scaffold and structural roles for assembly and function of the uniporter[3][5]. CCDC90B has been identified as a hub gene with prognostic significance in lung cancer and is linked to genetic syndromes, yet there are currently no drugs targeting it directly, nor is it considered a therapeutic target like a receptor or enzyme[3][6]. Its biological function appears to be restricted to mitochondrial processes, and evidence for broader cellular or disease involvement remains emerging[3][6].
