Skin collagen fibers are elongated bundles of triple-helical collagen proteins, predominantly types I and III, located in the dermis where they form an interwoven meshwork responsible for the mechanical strength, resilience, and elasticity of the skin[1][2][3][4][5][8]. These fibers give skin its durability, repair capacity, and youthful appearance, but degrade and diminish with age, leading to wrinkles and loss of elasticity[2][4][6].
