Complement component C3 convertase Overview

Complement component C3 convertase is a central enzyme complex in the complement system. It catalyzes the cleavage of complement protein C3 into C3a and C3b, leading to opsonization, inflammation, and further activation of the complement cascade. There are two main forms: C4b2a (classical/lectin pathway) and C3bBb (alternative pathway). Its activity is tightly regulated to prevent excessive complement activation.

Mechanism of Action

Inhibition of C3 convertase activity, Stabilization of C3 convertase, Promoting dissociation/inactivation of C3 convertase

Biological Functions
