COX10 antisense RNA 1 (COX10-DT) is a long non-coding RNA gene that is transcribed divergently relative to the protein-coding COX10 gene. COX10-DT does not regulate COX10 directly but functions primarily as a competitive endogenous RNA, sponging miR-206 and thereby regulating the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF). It is commonly overexpressed in breast cancer tissues, where it promotes cell proliferation and migration, supporting tumor progression. Current data show it may serve as a potential diagnostic or prognostic biomarker, and its involvement in oncogenic pathways makes it a possible therapeutic target for future RNA-based therapies. There is no evidence for clinical drug interaction or established safety concerns in humans at this time.
