Cytochrome P450 family 2 subfamily C member 60, pseudogene (CYP2C60P) is a **non-functional gene copy** (pseudogene) within the cytochrome P450 2C family in humans. Unlike functional cytochrome P450 genes, it **does not encode a protein** and is not involved in drug metabolism, biotransformation, or other typical CYP functions[4]. Pseudogenes like CYP2C60P can arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events, resulting in mutated, noncoding sequences that may occasionally exert regulatory effects at the RNA level, but such a function has not been described for CYP2C60P specifically[2]. It is not considered a therapeutic target, and there are no pharmacological interactions, mechanisms, or biomarker roles associated with CYP2C60P. The presence of such pseudogenes, however, can complicate genetic analysis or sequencing assays because of their high similarity to active CYP genes[3][4].
