Cytochrome P450 family 4 subfamily A member 44, pseudogene (CYP4A44P), is a non-functional genomic DNA sequence that resembles the structure of functional cytochrome P450 genes but does not encode an active enzyme. While functional CYP4A genes produce proteins involved in fatty acid metabolism and drug metabolism, pseudogenes like CYP4A44P do not generate functional products and are not considered therapeutic targets or drug-metabolizing enzymes. Pseudogenes may arise through duplication or retrotransposition events and are generally considered to lack biological function, though some pseudogenes in other gene families have been implicated in gene regulation or as disease biomarkers; there is currently no direct evidence that CYP4A44P plays such a role[5][3][1]. No evidence was found that CYP4A44P is involved in drug metabolism, is a known receptor, or is therapeutically actionable. Pseudogenes are nonfunctional segments of DNA, and this particular locus is not regarded as a canonical drug target[5][1].
