Dengue virus NS5 is a multifunctional protein essential for viral replication. It possesses RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) activity, catalyzing the synthesis of new viral RNA genomes. Additionally, it has methyltransferase activity involved in mRNA capping and methylation. NS5 also plays a role in immune evasion by antagonizing interferon signaling and modulating cellular mRNA splicing.
