Dexamethasone-induced protein (DEXI) is a small, acidic protein of around 10 kDa, encoded by the DEXI gene (Gene ID: 28955, UniProt: O95424), and is upregulated at the transcript level in response to dexamethasone and possibly other glucocorticoids[2][7]. The protein is present in human, mouse, and rat tissues but lacks a well-defined molecular function, classification, or cellular pathway association. Mouse knockout models do not display significant phenotypes and no molecular function or biological process has been verified experimentally[8]. DEXI is associated with serum immunoglobulin A deficiency and other selective immunoglobulin deficiencies, making it of potential interest as an immune function-related marker but not as a classical therapeutic target[7]. Its only disease link is as an association or marker, not a causative or actionable therapeutic target. There is insufficient evidence to classify this as a receptor, enzyme, or other druggable protein[2][6][7][8].
