Target intelligence / Profile preview
Inactivated diphtheria toxin (diphtheria toxoid) is a non-toxic derivative of diphtheria toxin that retains the ability to elicit an immune response. It is produced by treating diphtheria toxin with formaldehyde or other agents, rendering it non-toxic while preserving its antigenic properties. Diphtheria toxoid is used in vaccines to prevent diphtheria.
Stimulates the immune system to produce antibodies against diphtheria toxin. These antibodies neutralize the active toxin, preventing its binding to cells and subsequent inhibition of protein synthesis.
