DNA (Double-Stranded B-Form) (DNA)

Target
DNA
Molecular classification
Nucleic Acid, Genome
01

Overview

Double-stranded B-form DNA is the target for intercalating agents. These agents insert themselves between base pairs, distorting the helical structure and interfering with replication and transcription. This mechanism is exploited in cancer chemotherapy to inhibit cell division. Metallo-intercalators offer potential for enhanced specificity and targeted disruption of DNA.
