Dopamine Receptor D(3) (DRD3)

Target
DRD3
Molecular classification
G protein-coupled receptor, GPCR, Receptor
01

Overview

The D(3) dopamine receptor (DRD3) is a G protein-coupled receptor that primarily inhibits adenylyl cyclase, reducing cAMP levels. It is predominantly expressed in the ventral striatum, thalamus, hippocampus, and cortex. DRD3 modulates dopaminergic neurotransmission and regulates neuronal excitability. It is implicated in schizophrenia, Parkinson's disease, drug addiction, and depression and is considered a promising therapeutic target.
