DOC2GP, or double C2 domain gamma, pseudogene, is classified as a human pseudogene on chromosome 11 (Ensembl: ENSG00000231793, HGNC:37962), containing homology to the protein-coding DOC2 family (C2 domain-containing proteins)[3][1][5][8][9]. Pseudogenes such as DOC2GP do not produce functional proteins and are generally considered "disabled copies" of functional genes[6]. There is no evidence it encodes a therapeutic target or has clear biological, pathological, or pharmacological relevance. Functional C2 domain proteins are involved in critical processes such as neurotransmitter secretion, but DOC2GP itself is not expressed as a protein and does not serve as a receptor, transporter, enzyme, etc.[8][9][1]. DOC2GP is a non-coding pseudogene, associated with the C2 domain protein family, but has no confirmed molecular or therapeutic function. It should not be considered a true drug target.
