Overview

Eotaxin (CCL11) is a member of the CC chemokine family that is critically involved in the recruitment of eosinophils, especially in response to allergens[1][5]. It exerts its function primarily by binding to the chemokine receptor CCR3, which is highly expressed on eosinophils, leading to their migration to sites of allergic inflammation. Eotaxin plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of asthma and other chronic inflammatory respiratory conditions[1][2][4][5]. It is a small, secreted protein (chemokine) of about 74 amino acids, structurally characterized by a conserved chemokine fold stabilized by disulfide bonds[1].
