Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (Truncated) (EGFRt)

Target
EGFRt
Molecular classification
Receptor Tyrosine Kinase, Receptor, ErbB/HER family
01

Overview

The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is a transmembrane protein and member of the ErbB family of receptor tyrosine kinases. The truncated form (EGFRt) typically refers to engineered or naturally occurring versions of EGFR that lack part of the extracellular domain or other regions. EGFRt is often constitutively active, promoting cell proliferation and survival, and is associated with various cancers. Therapeutic targeting of EGFRt includes tyrosine kinase inhibitors, monoclonal antibodies, and immunotherapeutics, but resistance mechanisms frequently emerge.
