FNTAP2 is a human pseudogene related to the alpha subunit of farnesyltransferase, which functions in the transfer and posttranslational modification of isoprenoid groups to protein cysteine residues at C-terminal CAAX motifs. The functional alpha subunit (encoded by FNTA) is a key part of protein prenylation pathways important for Ras signaling and other processes in cell membrane localization, but FNTAP2 itself does not produce a protein product and has no known biological or therapeutic role[1][3][5]. If you are interested in a therapeutic target, you should use the functional gene FNTA (Farnesyltransferase, CAAX box, alpha), not the pseudogene FNTAP2[1][3][5]. The pseudogene does not encode an active protein and is not regarded as a receptor, enzyme, or drug target.
