FGF12 antisense RNA 2 (FGF12-AS2) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), meaning it does not encode a protein. FGF12-AS2 acts at the RNA level to regulate gene expression and cellular processes. It is reported to promote proliferation, migration, invasion, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), while its silencing inhibits NSCLC cell growth and induces apoptosis. High expression of FGF12-AS2 has been identified as part of prognostic risk models in glioblastoma (GBM) and may serve as a prognostic biomarker for GBM as well as other cancers[6][2]. There are currently no known direct drugs or therapeutic interventions targeting FGF12-AS2, and it is not recognized as a classical therapeutic target (such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter) but may be relevant as a biomarker or as a future candidate for RNA-based therapies.
