Beyond oncology, mutations in the FGFR2 gene and its transcript are linked to developmental disorders, including Apert and Crouzon syndromes (StatPearls: NBK538247). Monitoring FGFR2 mRNA levels and specific variants serves as a crucial biomarker for patient selection and treatment monitoring in precision medicine. Therapeutic challenges include managing class-effect toxicities like hyperphosphatemia and ensuring the high specificity required for RNA-targeting agents to avoid off-target effects.
