FSIP2LP (fibrous sheath interacting protein 2 like, pseudogene) is a non-coding pseudogene located in the human genome, annotated as NCBI Gene ID 100130684 and HGNC: 55625. Pseudogenes like FSIP2LP are segments of DNA that resemble functional genes but have lost the ability to encode proteins due to mutations such as frameshifts or stop codons. FSIP2LP is derived from its parent gene FSIP2, which encodes a component of the sperm fibrous sheath, but FSIP2LP itself does not produce a protein product and is not regarded as functional or associated with disease. Pseudogenes can have regulatory effects in specific cases, but no such role has been documented for FSIP2LP. As such, it is not a therapeutic target nor implicated in drug interactions.
