Overview

FSHD region gene 1 family member H, pseudogene (FRG1HP) is a human pseudogene located at chromosome 9p11.2[7][14]. It is classified as a pseudogene, meaning it resembles a functional gene (specifically the FSHD region gene 1 family), but does not encode a functional protein[3][14]. There is no evidence that FRG1HP encodes any protein or acts as a classical molecular target such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor. However, expression studies indicate FRG1HP may have relevance as a non-coding RNA biomarker candidate in certain cancers, including prostate cancer, where its expression level correlates with prognosis[4][12]. There are no known drugs that directly interact with this pseudogene, nor known mechanistic roles in disease biology.
