Target intelligence / Profile preview

Glucocorticoid Receptor NR3C1 Subunit Alpha Isoform 1 Variant A (Human) (GR)

Target
GR
Molecular classification
Nuclear Receptor, Transcription Factor
01

Overview

The glucocorticoid receptor (GR), encoded by the NR3C1 gene, is a ligand-activated transcription factor mediating the effects of glucocorticoids. Upon ligand binding, GR translocates to the nucleus, binds to GREs, and regulates gene expression involved in various physiological processes, including inflammation, metabolism, and immune response. It is a key target for anti-inflammatory drugs, but its widespread expression leads to diverse side effects.
