Target intelligence / Profile preview

Glucosaminyl (N-Acetyl) Transferase 3 (GCNT3)

Target
GCNT3
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Glycosyltransferase
01

Overview

GCNT3 is a glycosyltransferase enzyme that catalyzes the formation of core 2 and core 4 O-glycan branches on mucin-type glycoproteins. It also exhibits I-branching activity. Altered expression or function of GCNT3 has been linked to Colorectal Cancer (CRC) and Epithelial Ovarian Cancer (EOC), making it a potential prognostic and predictive biomarker. It is involved in cellular cycle regulation, mitosis/proliferation pathways, drug response mechanisms, and metabolism.
