Glucosylceramidase beta 1 like, pseudogene (GBA1LP) is a non-protein-coding pseudogene located near the GBA1 gene on chromosome 1[1][5]. While GBA1 encodes a lysosomal enzyme crucial for glycolipid metabolism and is directly linked to disorders such as Gaucher disease, GBA1LP does not encode a functional protein. However, GBA1LP shares high sequence similarity with GBA1 and may influence disease risk or expression through transcript regulation or competitive binding of regulatory miRNAs[3][5]. Pseudogenes such as GBA1LP are increasingly recognized for their potential regulatory but non-coding roles in cell biology and disease, though they are not considered classical drug targets.
